The City of Cambridge’s contractor, Marchese Construction, will begin to reconstruct the sidewalks and the roadway on Second Street between Cambridge Street and Charles Street starting July 6. The reconstruction of the sidewalks is scheduled to be completed within 8-10 weeks, while the final roadway paving will take place in the Fall of 2015.

This work, which was developed with community input, is part of Cambridge’s 5-year Sidewalk and Roadway Reconstruction Program to improve conditions for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists. General work hours will be from 7AM to 4PM, and Second Street will be intermittently closed within those hours. Police officers will be on site to help manage traffic, but motorists should also expect detours. Please be sure to check posted signs for exact date and times of the “No Parking” signs that will be posted prior to construction.
