Cambridge and Boston Police Seeking Info on Sexual Assault in Brighton

Early yesterday morning, a woman reported a sexual assault to the police. The incident occured near Linden and Pratt Streets in Allston, and the woman claims that her attacker offered her a free ride to Cambridge in what he claimed was a gypsy cab.

The suspect is described as an Indian male, 5’ 8”, medium build, medium complexion, in his mid-thirties with short cropped dark hair and very crooked teeth. The suspect was possibly wearing a black short sleeved collared shirt, had a thick accent, and was possibly operating a dark, four-door mid-sized vehicle.

It’s not yet clear if last night’s attack is related to a recent sexual assault near the Seaport, which also included an attacker claiming to be an unlicensed cab. What is clear is that all of us should take precautions when getting home at night. The police are urging people to only use licensed cabs or clearly identifiable livery service vehicles that are called to your location.

The Boston Police Department is actively investigating facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call BPD Sexual Assault Unit detectives at 617-343-4400. Cambridge Police, Harvard University Police and Massachusetts State Police are assisting in the investigation.

Community members wishing to assist this investigation anonymously can do so by calling CrimeStoppers at 1(800) 494-TIPS or by texting the word β€˜TIP’ to CRIME (27463). The Boston Police Department will stringently guard and protect the identities of those wishing to remain anonymous.
