After a bike maintenance course from the City of Cambridge, you’ll be able to fix your own flats. All class participants will also receive a free helmet! Image via Wikimedia Commons.
The City of Cambridge is offering a free bike maintenance class for Cambridge residents this Monday, July 15, from 7:00-8:00pm at the City Hall Annex (344 Broadway). Space is limited to thirty people, and the class is about half full, so please RSVP soon to the City of Cambridge’s Jennifer Lawrence by email at jlawrence@cambridgema.gov or by phone at (617)-349-4671.
Designed for experienced cyclists, the class will cover basics such as bike anatomy and seat height along with more advanced topics such as repairing a chain and fixing a flat. And since this class is all about helping cyclists ride safely, everyone who attends will receive a free helmet.
I don’t think I need to explain why cycling is good for you, good for your neighborhood, and good for our planet. With Hubway stands and some outstanding bike shops in the area, it’s never been easier to use your car less and your legs more. Attend the City’s class and the next time you see someone struggling with a flat tire, you can confidently say, “Need some help? I think I can fix that.”
