Summer’s here, and the time is right for dancing on the Charles. On Saturday, June 1, from 12 noon-6pm, the Cambridge Arts Council presents its 34th annual Riverfest, a free festival featuring hundreds of local and nationally renowned musicians, dancers, artists, storytellers, and more.

There will be art-making exhibits for kids, performances by theater companies such as American Rep and the Lyric Stage, more than 100 specialty food purveyors, public art installations, and (fingers crossed) a gorgeous summer day on the banks of the Charles. The event will stretch for a full mile along the river, from JFK St. to Western Ave., and more than 200,000 people are expected to attend.

This is the Cambridge Arts Council’s premier event, and they do a great job of pulling out all the stops. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to Sunday, June 2. Bring your friends, bring your family, bring everyone you know and come celebrate summer with us!
