It’s lunch time: are you enjoying a meal with friends or co-workers, or are you hunkered over some reheated pasta at your desk? Sad to say, but it’s become all too common to see people eating lunch at their desks and immediately getting back to work.

On March 6th, you’ll have the chance to break that monotony and maybe get into a dance-off or two while you’re at it. That’s when Lunch Beat, a Swedish-based food-and-fun movement, comes to Cambridge, giving all of us a chance to meet our neighbors, enjoy some food, and dance the lunch hour away. There are a few simple rules to Lunch Beat, but the first two are the most important:

  • 1st Rule: If it’s your first lunch at Lunch Beat, you have to dance.
  • 2nd Rule: If it’s your second, third, or fourth lunch at Lunch Beat, you have to dance.

The event is scheduled to take place at hack/reduce’s shared space in Kendall Square, a short distance from many of the area’s largest employers. This is the first Lunch Beat in the Boston area, and monthly events are expected to follow. But like so many trendsetters before them, Lunch Beat realized that East Cambridge is the place for cutting-edge ideas.

Now, I just need to start to understand what this EDM stuff is…can anyone tell me what a Skrillex is and what you do with one?
